My Analysis: Bad Genius

Bad Genius: A genius level high school student makes money after developing elaborate methods to help other students cheat.

How is the 4 main characters in the movie differs?

Describing their different personalities, motivations, and actions, I can say that the four main characters in the movie Bad Genius are:

Lynn

She is the protagonist, a genius student who comes from a poor background. She is known for her exceptional academic skills and her ability to cheat on exams.

Lynn is driven by her desire to help her family and herself, to escape poverty, and to prove her worthiness through academic excellence.

Bank

He is Lynn's classmate, who is generally lazy and uninterested in academic pursuits.

However, he is good with technology and a crucial member of Lynn's cheating team. Bank is motivated by money and the promise of a better future but has a more laid-back attitude towards education and career.

Kong
He is a rich kid and considered the school's most popular student. He is initially just a client of Lynn's cheating services but later becomes a collaborator and an investor in their scheme.

His motivations are not entirely clear, but he seems to be doing it for fun and adventure and to establish a sense of control over his peers.

Grace

She is Lynn's childhood friend, an outstanding student, and an overachiever. Grace believes in the traditional values of education and hard work and despises cheating. She ultimately becomes Lynn's adversary and the one responsible for derailing their operation.

She is motivated by her desire to uphold academic integrity and to expose any wrongdoing that undermines it.

What are your thoughts on the movie “Bad Genius” in terms of;

The school as a learning institution

In the film "Bad Genius," the school is portrayed as a highly competitive and elitist institution that focuses solely on academic success. The school's main purpose is to produce high-performing students who can deliver the results that the school expects of them.

The students are constantly being pushed to excel and are often subjected to immense pressure to maintain good grades and complete their assignments on time. This atmosphere of academic competitiveness is so intense that it drives many students to resort to cheating, just like the main character, Lynn.

Despite the intense competition and academic pressure, the school is still presented as an essential learning institution that provides opportunities for students to develop their skills and reach their academic potential. However, the film emphasizes the negative impact of the school's emphasis on grades and academic success above all else.

Overall, the school in "Bad Genius" is portrayed as a place where academic excellence is prized, but at the same time, it presents a stark picture of the pressures and challenges students face in their pursuit of academic success.

The teacher as leaders in Educational Technology

In the film, the teacher is depicted as a key figure in guiding students towards using technology for creative and non-conventional ways of learning, particularly in the context of a highly standardized education system. The teacher is portrayed as a mentor who recognizes the potential of technology in aiding learning, but also acknowledges its limitations and drawbacks.
In this sense, the teacher acts as a leader who empowers students to utilize technology effectively, but also encourages critical thinking and ethical behavior in its use. Therefore, the teacher's influence in the movie Bad Genius emphasizes the importance of educators as leaders who can leverage modern technology to improve the educational experience of their students.

The values of student in school

Academic excellence, the students in the movie were all highly intelligent and sought after academic success by studying hard and striving for good grades. Creativity, the main character, Lynn, had a unique way of cheating in exams that required creativity, which was rewarded in the movie. Resourcefulness, the students in Bad Genius were all resourceful and found ways to overcome the obstacles that stood in their way. Teamwork, the students collaborated and worked together to achieve their goals, which showcases the value of teamwork. Ethics, the ethical issues surrounding cheating were addressed in the movie, with the characters facing harsh penalties for their actions. This highlights the importance of ethical conduct in all aspects of life, including academics.

Overall, the values portrayed in the movie were a blend of both positive and negative values. While the creative solutions that the students came up with could be viewed as admirable, cheating is never a justifiable means to achieving success.
